Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education (PSHE)

“PSHE education is a planned programme of learning through which children and young people acquire the knowledge, understanding and skills they need to manage their lives. As part of a whole school approach, PSHE develops the qualities and attributes pupils need to thrive as individuals, family members and members of society.” – Taken from PSHE association

At Whytemead we provide an enriching curriculum where PSHE is integral in all subjects. Through our exciting topics we deliver all areas of PSHE.

We offer a wide range of teaching styles at our school and appreciate that all children learn in different ways. We acknowledge that children should feel valued and support them especially at their most vulnerable.

Primarily in our school we need to develop children’s self-awareness, positive self-esteem and the confidence to:

  • Stay as healthy as possible
  • Keep themselves and others safe
  • Have worthwhile and fulfilling relationships
  • Respect the differences between people
  • Develop independence and responsibility
  • Play an active role as members of a democratic society
  • Make the most of their own and other’s ability.
