Assessment at Whytemead underpins everything we do, enabling us to identify gaps in children's learning and planning in order to plug these. We use a rigorous formative and summative approach; this enables us to know where our children are all the time and, most importantly, where they need to go next.
Children's reports are sent out mid year in order that we can work together, in partnership with parents, to support the children with their learning within the academic year that they are working in, rather than at the end of the summer term. However, parents are also given a briefer, summative report of children's achievement and next steps in July each year.
