Go girls! Fantastic display from our Yr5/6 football team

The school is enormously happy to have entered our very first girls football event this week in which we WON 3, LOST 2! This is an amazing result: well done girls!
The school community - and in particular Mrs Andrew - is so proud of Mills, Tanith, Una, Rafaella, Lillian and Rosie. You were a credit to Whytemead and showed great sportsmanship and teamwork.
Although it was a little tricky to pull a full team together, we were able to enter but unfortunately, due to sickness, we were down to 6-aside instead of 7.
As this was a festival event, rather than a competitive tournament, other schools were very understanding and gracious, either playing 6-aside also or "lending" a player so all girls were able to play.
Considering that 3 of our 6 had never even played before, they did so well, and are excited now to train as a team.
There is no placing for a festival event, but the team were asked to select a "players' player" for a medal. They voted for Millie. Great choice, great captain and what a player!
Millie is taking part in trials this Thursday for the Brighton and Hove Albion U11 team and we wish her the very best of luck.
