Thursday 7 March 2024 World Book Day Yesterday we celebrated World Book Day. The children were able to dress as their favourite character from a book. It was wonderful to see such a variety of costumes!

Friday 3 November 2023 Whytemead Book Fair! The Book Nook will once again be hosting our book fair which will be on Wednesday 29th November. The children will have a chance to look at the books during the day and then there will be a book sale in the hall after school. All sales will go towards free books for our school.

Wednesday 21 June 2023 Year 2 enjoy new experiences at Legacy Games event On Thursday 15th June, Maple class enjoyed a wonderful afternoon of sporting activities at Durrington Infant and Junior School together with over 450 other Year 2 children from Worthing schools at the annual Year 2 Legacy Games event.

Friday 21 April 2023 New term, new topic: Year 3&4 start to learn about Anglo Saxons! Years 3 and 4 had a visit from the Novium Museum in Chichester this week to teach us all about the Anglo Saxons, which is our topic for the summer term. We even got to pretend to be dead warriors so we could see what might have been buried with them.

Thursday 30 March 2023 Year 3 & 4 show off their wonderful wolf work Parents and carers were treated to a showcase of Year 3 and 4's work from the last term, which has all been based around the theme of wolves. You will have seen our news article about the 'stunning start' the fantastic teachers put in place for the pupils (head here to take a look!), which clearly had a great inspirational effect on all the children.

Wednesday 29 March 2023 Rocksteady bands showcase their talents The three Whytemead Rocksteady bands played to a record audience yesterday for their Easter term gig.

Tuesday 10 January 2023 Wolves! The year 3 and 4 have had a very exciting start back to the new term. As part of their new topic ‘Wolves!’ they had a visit from two real wolves, Alice and Moonshine, and their trainers from Watermill Wolves. These famous wolves are very highly trained and have been used in film and television shows. The children had an amazing experience and learnt about wolves in the wild as well as how they live and their family groups. They were able to touch and stroke the wolves and even tickle them under the chin, where they like it the most. The children have come away realising that the big bad wolf from the fairy tales might not be so big and bad after all!

Monday 9 January 2023 Walk to the Park Today the year 1 and year 2 children went on a walk to the local park to identify the different types of trees. After identifying the trees, the children collected some leaves, sticks, acorns and more in order to continue learning about trees and woodland habitats at school. Although the children thoroughly enjoyed the trip, I think they were more excited to have 5 minutes of fun in the park prior to our return to school.

Friday 2 December 2022 Christmas Fayre On Friday 2nd December 2022 we held our first post Covid Christmas Fayre. It was lovely to see so many faces! We are delighted to say that we raised an astonishing £1,950! We hope you enjoyed the evening as much as we did. Congratulations to all those who won a prize at the raffle. Thank you again to all of the parents and staff that helped to make this event a huge success.

Friday 25 November 2022 Bikeability 2022 Some of our Year 6 child opted in to take their Bikeability test this week. We are delighted to say that all of the children that completed the course, passed with flying colours! Well done to all!

Friday 18 November 2022 Children In Need 2022 Today we had a non school uniform day in order to raise money for Children In Need. It was great to see so many of our Whytemead children (and teachers) dress up for the occasion. We raised a grand total of £157.55! Thank you to everyone who kindly donated to the cause.
